Virtual Colonoscopy
What is a Virtual Colonoscopy?
Less invasive than a traditional colonoscopy, a virtual colonoscopy uses low-dose CT imaging to produce a multidimensional image of the colon, which is then examined by a radiologist to screen for colon cancer, obstructions, and other diseases. The scan typically takes 10 minutes, requires no anesthesia, and poses less risk of accidental harm to the large intestine, while providing a detailed and sensitive image.
Is a Virtual Colonoscopy Right for me?
The American Cancer Society recommends that persons over the age of 50 have regular screening for colon cancer, and early detection is critical. Because it is non-invasive, it can also be a great option for individuals with certain risk factors that prohibit a traditional colonoscopy.
Scans will be read by a Board Certified Radiology Team specializing in preventative CT scans, and results will be received within 24 hours.
